The team of Igor Sykorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute dcua was recognized the best among more than 12 thousand teams of «white hat» hackers from the whole world in CTFtime ranking in 2016, the university’s press office informed, according to Finance.UA materials.
According to the message, the ranking is established as per the results of the participation of teams in multiple contests in informational security and is nearly the most prestigious in the world.
The rating itself is composed of the points, which the team scored in international contests within a year.
In 2016, the results of almost 70 contests, which were conducted in person or online, were included into it.
«White hat» or «ethical» hackers are usually called the specialists, capable of determining how protected the system is from external attacks and cyber criminals, and to build its effective protection.
The dcua team was created in 2012. The PTI’s research scientist Nikolai Ilyn is its leader and coach. The team’s line-up contains 43 active players.
