As per results of 2017, 100 largest state companies of Ukraine obtained the profit, amounting to UAH 44.4 bln, which is by 38.5% higher than 2016 indicator, the press office of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine informs, HB reports.
The book value of assets of the portfolio of state companies was over UAH 1.5 trln that is by 5% more than by late 2016.
The list of the most profitable companies includes Naftogaz of Ukraine NJSC, Administration of Sea Ports, Centrenergo, Ukrenergo and Borispol airport.
Last year, Naftogaz’s net profit was UAH 39.3 bln, while in 2016 – UAH 17.8 bln. According to the ministry, this amount is 88.5% of the total financial portfolio of top 100 companies.
Winning in arbitration proceedings became the main factor of profit growth of Naftogaz. Thanks to it, the company obtained the largest net profit for last 20 years, the Ministry of Economic Development states.
Meanwhile, in 2017, the electric power companies decreased their profit by 33% - up to UAH 4 bln. For 2017, Ukrenergo’s net profit decreased from UAH 3 bln to UAH 1.7 bln. Meanwhile, Centerenergo became the only energy generating company, which increased the profit five times in 2017 versus 2016 – to UAH 1.9 bln.
The transport companies significantly improved their financials – their profit was UAH 5.5 bln, while in 2016, the losses, amounting to UAH 4 mln, were fixed. Therefore, the actual profit growth increased 15 times, the Ministry of Economic Development noted. For example, as per results of 2017, the profit of Administration of Sea Ports was UAH 3.6 bln, which is by 6.5% less than in 2016. Borispol airport’s profit was about UAH 1.7 bln (by 25% higher than in 2016).
The coal mining companies ended 2017 with losses, amounting to UAH 3.1 bln. The chemical companies decreased the losses by 60% - up to UAH 1.3 bln in 2017 versus UAH 3.2 bln in 2016.
The financial result of engineering companies also decreased. Their profit decreased by almost 86% - from UAH 5 bln in 2016 to almost UAH 0.7 bln in 2017.
The food industry and agriculture ended 2017 with the losses, amounting to UAH 1.2 bln, which are twice higher than 2016 indicator.
