The confederation of employers of Ukraine prepared the draft law, which proposes equalizing the labor rights of men and women.
In particular, it is proposed to allow going on maternity leave, until the child is three years old, not only to mothers, but also to fathers, Yurliga reports.
The fathers of two or more minor children will also be able to go on the annual leave at the convenient time, the additional leave of up to 10 calendar days as well as the unpaid leave of up to 14 calendar days. Now, only women may use this right.
The fathers of children under 14 will be able to go on the unpaid leave during the quarantine period at schools and kindergartens.
In addition, the fathers of minor or disabled children will not be required to work overtime or make business trips without their consent.
The men, having children under 14, will be able to request the employer to establish part-time working day or week for taking care of a baby.
According to the authors of this draft law, the national legislation will consequently be adapted to the European one, which provides social guarantees to all employees without gender-based discrimination.
The draft law On Introduction of Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine (regarding provision of additional guarantees, related to combining family and labor obligations) is available for discussion.
