Compared to the first half of 2017, the demand for electric cars in Ukraine in the first half of 2018 increased 1.5 times, the press office of Ukravtoprom Association reports.
For six months, the Ukrainian electric car fleet was replenished with 1,950 cars in total.
This demand was mainly satisfied through the import of used cars, the share of which is 85% in initial registrations.
NISSAN Leaf remains the most popular electric car in Ukraine; in January-June, 1,282 cars of this model were registered in Ukraine.
BMW i3, which 129 car drivers opted for, is the second in terms of initial registrations, with a ten times lag behind the leader.
95 Ukrainians opted for Tesla Model S, and it is the third result of the half year on electric car market.
Mercedes B Electric Drive ranks the fourth; this electric car has 57 registrations.
SMART Fortwo (50 units) closes the top five.
The following models also entered Top 10 of the primary electric car market as per the first half-year results: Tesla Model X – 46 units, KIA Soul EV – 37 units, Toyota RAV-4 EV – 33 units, Volkswager е-Golf – 31 units, FIAT 500е and Hyundai Ioniq with the same result –26 cars each.
Reportedly, by 2030, all carparks and parking lots in Ukraine will be equipped with charging stations for electric cars.
