As part of fighting against with fake news and for higher transparency, the Internet giant Google tightened requirements for political advertisements in the European Union, the company said on Thursday, November 22, Correspondent reports.
Thus, on the eve of elections to the European Parliament, which will be held in the next year, Google made obligatory the information about the company or individual, who paid for advertisement, if it mentions the political party, its candidates or acting representatives.
Before paying for advertisement, the potential advertiser should obtain confirmation of the respective application by the administration of Internet resource.
Google also intends to provide information about advertises of the political advertisements, at whom it was targeted and how much it was paid for it.
This year, Google introduced the same changes for the political advertisement in U.S. This year, Facebook also presented its own analogous system for U.S., Brazil and United Kingdom.
In particular, Facebook tightened control over advertisement with political content. When placing it, it is necessary to indicate who pays for it. The social media will check the location and identity of the client.
