The European Commission will send a legislative initiative to EU Council regarding cancellation of visas for Ukrainians in two weeks, Radio Liberty Brussels correspondent Rikard Jozwiak reported in his Twitter, sud.ua press-office reports.
“The European Commission will offer a suggestion on visa liberalization for Ukraine in two weeks”, - he noted.
It was previously reported that the European Commission can approve cancellation of the visa-free regime for Ukraine with EU on Thursday, April 14.
On April 11, Reuters reported about the expected positive decision of the European Commission this month. According to source information, the European Commission is ready to propose cancelling visas for Ukrainian citizens in spite of negative for official Kyiv results of Dutch referendum on EU –Ukraine Association.
On April 6, the consultative referendum on the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement was held in Netherlands. According to preliminary results, 38.1% Dutchmen, participating in the referendum, voted for ratification of agreement. 61.1% voters voted against.
Commenting preliminary results of the Dutch referendum, the European Parliament indicated that 0.6% of the population of the European Union cannot decide the future of agreement.
