For the last six years, Russia allocated more than 33 million dollars for the projects of the United Nations Children's Fund, RIA News reports, quoting the Permanent Mission of Russia to UN due to opening of UNICEF’s regular session.

From 2010 to 2016, Russia participated in financing the projects in Angola, Armenia, Belarus, Vanuatu, Haiti, Guinea-Bissau, Iran, Kirgizstan, Cuba, Liberia, Lebanon, Pakistan, Syria, Sierra Leone, Tadzhikistan for the amount of USD 33.1 million.

According to the Permanent Mission of Russia to UN, the funds were allocated for water supply management and fulfilment of sanitation and hygiene requirements in the Republic of Cuba, which suffered from hurricane in October 2012, providing aid to Syria’s population, ensuring Russia’s participation in international Ebola response efforts. RF also allocated funds for the campaign of immunization against diphtheria in Tadzhikistan, procurement of study guides of the Russian language in Kirgizstan, for UNICEF project “Prevention of Children’s Injuries” in Belarus, and the children support projects in other countries.

UNICEF annually allocates resources for the amount of about 5.2 billion dollars.

Starting from 2006, the annual voluntary contribution of Russia into the main budget of UNICEF, amounts to USD 1 million, as Permanent Mission of Russia to RF reported.

The sources of funding (2/3 of the total amount) are annual voluntary contributions of governments as well as the National UNICEF Support Committees, contributions of international non-governmental organizations and representatives of the private sector.
