The United States accused China’s authorities of implementing the “economic aggression” policy, which poses the global threat. Such statement is contained in the published report of the White House “How China’s Economic Aggression Threatens the Technologies and Intellectual Property of the United States and the World”. Director of the National Trade Council Peter Navarro was the author of the document, UNN reports quoting CNBC channel.
“Taking into account the size of China’s economy and the scale of its policy, leading to market disproportions, the economic aggression of China currently threatens not only to U.S. economy, but also the global economy”, he thinks. According to the White House, PRC “is likely to conduct the campaign of commercial espionage against U.S. companies”, which consists, in particular, of “hackings into information systems of U.S. companies for stealing the intellectual property items”, and their further depreciation and acquisition at much lower prices.
In the report, U.S. authorities criticize Beijing again for conducting, in their opinion, “unfair trade” policy. The document generalizes the previously stated accusations of U.S. officials against Chinese governments.
Navarro considers the “economic aggression” of Chinese government within such wide categories as the protection of internal market for national producers, ensuring control over the natural resources and the pursuit of domination in high technology industries. Then he enlists over 50 attributed to PRC areas of activities – from cyber-theft of intellectual property items to blocking the foreign access to key raw materials, available mainly in China – through which the state allegedly achieves its goals.
Meanwhile, as the local commentators note, the Navarro’s report “does not suggest a new political course, but only raises claims”. It does not contain “the analysis of actual information”; it just provides materials, which allegedly “assert the already existing position”, the representative of the Center for Strategic and International Studies Scott Kennedy noted. The White House reported that within many months Navarro was working on the document, which before publishing was studied by the representatives of other public institutions. Meanwhile, the notes and footnotes as well as the annexes constitute the larger part of the document – 44 pages out of 65.
