The Minister says the Ukrainian appeals remain unanswered
Ukraine is going to leave the Commonwealth of Independent States and a reason given for it is inaptitude of this organization to serve as a tool for tackling conflicts that occur between its members, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrey Deschitsa said during an interview with Echo of Moscow radio, UNN (УНН) reports.
Mr. Deschitsa noted that the CIS and its participants do not respond to the demands of Ukraine to convene an emergency meeting of ministers of foreign affairs to discuss the issues relating to the recent events in Crimea.
«If Ukraine, as a country that presides, appeals to the CIS’ executive committee asking to convoke an extraordinary meeting, and none of its members responds to the situation occurred, when one of the neighboring countries launches a military assault on the territory of another country, the question then arises is what the purpose of this organization is, if it does not play any role at all», - Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine said.
