New rules for crossing the border to be introduced this year
Russian Government is planning to introduce new rules for crossing the Russian border for citizens of CIS countries in 2013. In particular, a foreign passport will now be required, announced Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin.
The new law is rooted in Russia's wish to strengthen border control with the countries of Central Asia, primarily Tajikistan. Also, this formality is necessary to resolve the issue of visa-free regime between Russia and the EU.
D. Rohozin did not mention the exact date when the new regime will be introduced.
