Low season rates
In spite of further change in price of train tickets that is expected on October 1, 2014, the rail fares in autumn will be cheaper than in summer, said Head of Transportation Analytics at Ukrzaliznytsia Mykola Tonchiev at a press-conference held at the Ukrainian Crisis Media Centre on September 23, 2014, the press-office reports.
“A rise in ticket prices will not affect passengers because starting from the 1st of October the low season rate will be applied to passenger trains – 0.93. Thus, the rail fare will go down as compared with June-August of the current year with a season rate at 1.07”, –Mykola Tonchiev explained.
He said that starting from October 1, 2014, the 2nd-class sleeping car fare from Kyiv to Kharkiv (489 km) will be 119.97 hryvnias, the compartment car fare – 217.29 hryvnias, while the current price of the 2nd-class tickets with a week day rate at 1.0 and season rate at 1.07 (with taking into account the commission fee, cost of bed clothing) is 124.24 hryvnias, the compartment car fare – 226.04 hryvnias.
Please note that change in cost of domestic rail services will be applied to all categories of passenger trains, except two-berth compartments and Intercity+ trains.
