In the NBU Chair’s opinion, this rate is fair and economically grounded
Chair of the National Bank of Ukraine Valeria Gontariova is of the opinion that despite the problems the country’s economics is facing, the balanced fair and economically grounded exchange rate is 12.90 hryvnias for one US dollar. The NBU Chair offers to state the said rate in the government’s draft budget for 2015, according to the information posted by the NBU press-office on the Facebook page.
“12.90 UAH/USD is the rate that should be left unchanged. And, as soon as we begin to renovate Donbas, the Ukrainian plants of the metallurgical industry will reinstate operating at their full capacity that will allow us to raise a question of returning to the figures reported in July. In particular, the rate was at 11.70 hryvnias for one US dollar – we’ve practically balanced trade”, – said Valeria Gontariova.
