A seminar in Kyiv
Participants of the seminar on updates to the criminal procedure code held on October 3, 2014, in the Arts & Culture Centre of the Ukraine’s Ministry of Internal Affairs, Kyiv city, learned and discussed changes to the procedure for commissioning and conducting mandatory legal expertise.
The organizers of the seminar: Independent Science-Research Expert Union civil society organization and General Investigation Directorate of the Ukraine’s Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Conference delegates, including legal experts, appraisers, auditors, lawyers and academia representatives, shared their insights and opinions on further improvement of the Ukraine’s CPC, in particular, discussed specificity of conducting legal expertise in various spheres of law covering economic crimes.
In opening speech, deputy head of ISREU Bogdana Isakovych told about aims and objectives of the seminar, legal expert Luidmila Onischenko submitted a few proposals on content of the decision made by an investigator on assigning expert examination and evidence, while appraiser, court expert, Inna Polischuk spoke about some nuances of economic research on intellectual property rights.
Moreover, auditor Inna Lukashova addressed an issue of correlation and distinction between “loss” and “damage”; an issue of economic losses suffered by a country or creditors dealing with bankruptcy was examined by economic expert Olena Morozova; international expert in law and independent expertise Gennady Pampuha told about issues raised at the last Coordination Council at the Ukraine’s Ministry of Justice; Professor of Finance at the Odesa National University Vira Khomutenko enumerated the main tax challenges in housing construction through joint ventures.
