The airport can forward insecure cargo to the EU
Boryspil airport has successfully undergone the EU aviation security validation involving independent controllers from relevant authorities of Austria, Poland and Latvia. The results of the certification prove compliance of the main air gates of Ukraine with the norms of aviation security, which allow transporting insecure cargo to the EU countries, the airport press-office reports.
The outcomes of the check confirm that the airport has been licensed as a RA3 agent — Third Country (EU Aviation security validated) Regulated Agent. Boryspil has become the first Ukrainian airline hub that has undergone validation and can ensure enhanced control over security of freight and postal transactions.
Besides, the main airport of Ukraine has acquired the right to independently define the threat level, control dispatching of cargo to the EU countries just before shipping on board the plane or handing over to a АСС3 air carrier or other RA3 agent.
Boryspil airport as a RA3 agent embeds the procedures for physical and technical security along with other security measures and control in place to ensure protection against illegal intrusion and any other damage to freight or mail forwarded to the EU countries. These rules are set out in the relevant Declaration of Commitments.
