The NBU relies on a flexible rate
Devaluation of the Ukrainian hryvnias has reached 100%, said Chair of the NBU Valeria Gontariova at the international investment forum in Kyiv, RBK-Ukraine (РБК-Україна) reports.
“You know that the devaluation is now 100%. At the last moment the panic among businesses began. Even after the currency devaluated by 50%, which happened in July, we managed to stabilize the situation, but afterwards the war broke out”, - said Gontariova.
However, the NBU’s Chair believes that the situation can improve when the panic ceases.
“We try to determine a new balanced rate, but we think that the said rate won’t be fundamental. We believe that when the panic disappears, improvements will take place even in this sphere... We support a flexible rate. We believe in efficiency of the flexible rate“, - she said.
