NBU’s Resolution No.798 dd. December 8, 2014
The National Bank of Ukraine has allowed the banks to destroy the cask money they keep if the banknotes cannot be moved to another location, according to NBU’s resolution No.798 dd. December 8, 2014, RBK-Ukraine (РБК-Україна) reports.
“In case of impossibility to move the banknotes outside a regional branch of the bank, regional managers are in charge of destroying the notes, and are to do it under supervision of managers for cash turnover and cash operations, within the technological zone in the treasury vaults in front of the cameras capturing a type of damage”, - the document says.
Pursuant to the resolution, the banknotes might be damaged, if they are pasted with glue, stamped as “invalid” or cut/burnt at 50% out of total surface area, or damaged some other way that results in impassability of money.
“In case of damage, it is required to draw up a free-form report stating a denomination, quantity, amount and way of damage (additionally, colour and type of substances, other typical features of damage – estimated size of missing parts of banknotes, type of perforation, etc.), which is to be signed by all employees of the regional branch involved. One copy is to be submitted to the central bank.
