From January to December 2014, revenues to public designated budgets and earmarked funds deducted by railway companies amounted to over 12 billion hryvnias, or by 3.4 million hryvnias more than the scheduled figures, the press-office of Ukrzaliznytsia reports.
In particular, 3.4 billion hryvnias were deducted to the government coffer, while 2.4 billion hryvnias and over 6.2 billion hryvnias - to the local budget and special-purpose funds, respectively.
Train operators, according to recent data, transported over 440 million passengers in 2014, by 8.9% less, as compared to the previous year. Moreover, the financial performance data shows that rail companies sold services at a loss of over 7.9 billion hryvnias (covering all types of transportation).
In 2014, train tickets bought with a discount by passengers entitled to social security benefits amounted to 582.3 million hryvnias, in total. The compensation totalled 165.6 million hryvnias, or 28%. The rail debt in 2014 amounted to 416.7 million hryvnias.
