Total amount of transactions to refinance loans in December 2014 that were performed by the National Bank of Ukraine reached 42.9 billion hryvnias, with the weighted average interest rate of 17.95% per annum, the Report on Core Tendencies in the Money and Credit Market of Ukraine for December 2014 noted, according to RBK-Ukraine (РБК-Україна).
In November 2014 the amount of refinance made by the NBU against loans was 27.2 billion hryvnias. Thus, during a month this index grew 1.57 times.
Meanwhile, overnight loans amounted to 32.2 billion hryvnias out of total refinancing in December, with the weighted average interest rate held at 17.50%, while funds disbursed thorough the tender, when banks bid for liquidity, at the weighted average interest rate of 19.08%, made up 7.0 billion hryvnias.
Total refinancing since the beginning of the year stood at 222.3 billion hryvnias. From January to December of 2014 the weighted average interest rate at which liquidity tenders were allocated was 15.57% per annum.
In addition, the National Bank of Ukraine carried out liquidity-absorbing operations amounting to 155.5 billion hryvnias in December (since the beginning of the year – some 1.472 trillion hryvnias) so that to mobilize funds. An overwhelming majority of transactions were overnight loans. In December, the weighted average interest rate for transactions involving mobilization of funds was 8.34% per annum (since the year-beginning – 5.68%).
