The amount of hryvnia deposits placed with banks in December of 2014 amounted to 364.5 billion hryvnias, surpassing the figures for the previous month by 0.6 percent, the Report on Core Tendencies in the Money and Credit Market of Ukraine for December 2014 commented, RBK-Ukraine (РБК-Україна) reports.
“The scope of deposits lodged in the national currency in December increased by 0.6%, or up to 364.5 2 billion hryvnias, from the previous month (since the year-beginning dropped by 13.7%)”, - the report says.
The balances for deposit accounts opened by legal persons grew by 5.1%, or up to 169.1 billion hryvnias, during a month (since the beginning of the year - by 0.2%). The balances for deposit accounts opened by natural persons decreased by 2.9%, or up to 195.3 billion hryvnias, during the same period (since the year-beginning - by 23.0%).
Deposits placed in foreign currencies fell by 10.7%, or up to 19.4 billion dollars (in dollar terms), from the previous month (since the beginning of the year - by 37.2%), including those of legal persons – a decrease of 24.7%, or up to 5.6 billion dollars, which, among other things, is linked with charges for natural gas imports (since the beginning of the year - by 27.9%), those of natural persons - by 3.4% (since the beginning of the year - by 40.3%), or up to 13.7 billion dollars.
