The meeting between the NBU’s task force members and mass media representatives concerning protection of banknotes from counterfeiting was held this morning, the post on the NBU’s Facebook page says.
“Upon the results for 2014, around 3 out of one million UAH banknotes were taken out of circulation – similar to the 2013 figures (in 2013 – 3.5 notes, in 2012 – 4.1 notes). In comparison with the EU countries, with reference to the data posted on the official website of the European Central Bank, counterfeit banknotes detected in 2013 (the latest data) equalled around 43 notes. According to the Ministry of Interior of Ukraine, as of end of 2014, reportedly, there was not an uptick in a number of fake banknotes in the eastern regions.
