Total customs duties and taxes on import of vehicles decreased by 4 billion hryvnias in 2014 because supplyies lessened, CEO of Ukraine’s Customs Service Anatoly Makarenko said at the meeting of the Verkhovna Rada’s committee dealing with fiscal and customs policy, RBK-Ukraine (РБК-Україна) reports.

In his opinion, the proceeds of the government from customs duty in 2014 amounted to 136.9 billion hryvnias, including 124 billion hryvnias and 12.8 billion hryvnias deducted to the general and special-purpose funds, respectively.

In total, deductions to the government coffer in 2014 from international trade proceeds reached 135.7 billion hryvnias, showing a shortfall of 0.9% compared to 2013.

In general, total proceeds showed an increase of 15.4%, as compared to the last year, including those of the general fund - by 11%, or 11.9 billion hryvnias, in 2013 – 108.4 billion hryvnias.

Makarenko noted that the toughened situation in the eastern regions of Ukraine and annexation of Crimea had a negative impact on administration of tax receipts. Thus, during the period of annexation, shortfall in direct taxes to be paid to the government by Crimean and Sevastopol customs amounted to 1.8 billion hryvnias; the events occurring in the east of Ukraine entailed reduction totalling 3.5 billion hryvnias in tax receipts from Eastern and Luhansk customs; change in the structure of imports and drop in prices in the global markets led, in its turn, to a decrease of 21% (in USD) in imports of taxable goods.

As regards industry sectors, the customs charges from import of vehicles attributed to category “passenger cars” reduced by 65%, while those from supply of trucks from abroad made up 1 billion hryvnias, with twofold dropping in volume of transportation.
