Agricultural products made up 35-37% of the Ukrainian exports in 2014, said today the Minister for Agrarian Policy of Ukraine Olexy Pavlenko, RBK-Ukraine (РБК-Україна) reports.
In his opinion, since the year beginning the trade surplus in agricultural products has grown by 19%.
“In the previous year, a surplus in balance of trade reached $10.6 billion – it is the highest figure on record for all years of independence of Ukraine. Since the beginning of the year the trade surplus has increased by 19%, while a share of agricultural export has reached 35-37% out of total exports”, - he said.
The Minister noted that the income of the agrarian sector accounted for a third of all Ukrainian export.
‘For the first time ever, in the history of the Ukrainian state, every third dollar of foreign currency receipts in 2014 was received owing to our agrarians, so, a third of our exports is the income obtained from the agrarian sector”,- noted Pavlenko.
He added that in spite of the crisis, Ukraine is not lagging behind the last year’s growth rate of agricultural production.
“Despite the crisis consequences, this sector does not drop behind the last year’s production speed... Ukraine is the export leader in the plant oil market, as regards grain – holds the second place, chicken meat is number 7”, - said Pavlenko.
