Japan confirms its intention to provide financial assistance to Ukraine in the amount of $ 1.8 billion, said the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan Kentaro Sonoura during a meeting with members of the Parliament in Tokyo, RBK-Ukraine (РБК-Україна) reports.
Additionally, the Vice-Minister commented on the military conflict in Ukraine. In particular, he noted that "Europe and Asia are experiencing similar challenges, when big states can use force to achieve their goals. But this is unacceptable."
In turn, the Ukrainian deputies have stressed that partnership with Japan is strategic. "Especially now, when our country is on the way towards democratic reforms," - said Svetlana Zalishchuk, the MP from the Petro Poroshenko block.
While in Tokyo, the Ukrainian delegation held meetings with members of the Japanese parliament, the group dealing with issues of cooperation between the parliaments of Ukraine and Japan, and the leadership of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party.
The visit of the Ukrainian delegation was organized by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) within the framework of the 2014 program for assisting Ukraine in restoring democracy.
