As part of a comprehensive approach to the determination and disclosure of beneficial owners or major shareholders of banks, the National Bank of Ukraine has established the Office to monitor bank-related persons. The newly created unit will be headed by Alexander Zavadetsky, the regulator’s press-office reports.
Employees of the newly established division will deal with determining the beneficial owners and focus on the synthesis of information, detailing and disclosing tax avoidance schemes used by banks to conceal the related parties mentioned in the audit reports.
Alexander Zavadetsky was born on July 16, 1975. In 1999 he graduated from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, completed a course in jurisprudence and qualified as the law specialist; fluent in English.
He started his career in 1996, as a legal counsel; later he headed legal units in a number of banking institutions. From 2006 to 2009, Alexander Zavadetsky worked as head of legal department at JV Dragon Capital Ltd., eight years - in the banking system.
In recent years, Alexander Zavadetsky has worked as a lawyer; he was the
founder and director of Zavadetsky’s Law Firm from 2009 till his appointment at the National Bank of Ukraine.
On June 2, 2015, Alexander Zavadetsky was appointed as head of the Monitoring Department at the National Bank of Ukraine.
