In May, the automotive market in Ukraine showed a decrease of 47% year-on-year with 2 994 new cars registered, according to the data from the Ukravtoprom Association.
Toyota, the Japanese car brand led the top sales in May this year, as the year before, with 432 vehicles sold. Such a remarkable result was achieved due to both stable market demand and supply of hybrid cars to the Ministry of Interior under the Kyoto Protocol. But despite this, the leader in new car registration could not reach the sales volume reported in a previous year, with a gap of nearly 22 percent.
Renault, the French car maker, was the second, with 207 cars registered. The demand for Renault dropped by 21% year-on-year.
The domestic brand car, ZAZ, rounded out the top three best-selling car brands, with 203 vehicles (by 57% less as compared to a similar period a year ago).
In total, 13831 new passenger cars were sold to the Ministry of Interior of Ukraine during winter-spring months of 2015, by 73% less compared to the figures a year ago.
