The National Fiscal Service has set a clear task to overcome smuggling at the customs crossing points during 100 days. This issue was discussed during a joint press conference with Chairman of the Odessa Regional Government Administration Mikhail Saakashvili, said Head of NFS Roman Nasyrov, the press-office informs.

He noted that combating trafficking, boosting effectiveness of e-services provided by fiscal agencies and optimization are among the main challenges the NFS is facing now.

Roman Nasyrov also said that Odessa region will be one of the first areas to launch a pilot project. Therefore, fiscal services need support of both local authorities and local law enforcement bodies with preventing and intercepting smuggling, legal abuse and fictitious business. First of all, it concerns illegitimate imports, fictitious tax rebates, including the companies exporting grain and not paying taxes on foreign currency gains.

"There are bills pending on hearing, so we are interested in receiving 50% of extra revenues and earmarking them to a separate fund to finance infrastructure projects in Odessa region," said Head of the NPS.

In addition, the fiscal service, in close cooperation with local authorities, will introduce new special projects to improve efficiency of tax collections replenishing local budget reserves.

"We set a clear goal to overcome smuggling at the customs crossing points during 100 days. For Ukraine, this is the outpost. Smuggling in Odessa affects the economy and makes fair equal competition impossible. The same happens at the western cross border points. By the end of this year, we are going to impose new conditions for cargo customs clearance in Odessa region," said Roman Nasyrov.
