The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will allocate Ukraine 100 mln euros for the program of development of public transport. The information on this decision is published by the Ministry of Finance, RBC-Ukraine reports.
The report says that within the framework of this program the public transport companies in Ukraine can obtain from EBRD the loans for the improvement of infrastructure and, firstly, for renovation of its rolling equipment. Loans will be disbursed against the guarantee of local authorities.
EBRD provides loans with a range of conditions. They include: the city approval of new rules of the competitive route distribution; implementation of tariff reforms in each city; raising the standards of disclosure of company information about its financial and operational activities. One more condition is the improvement in the sphere of financial management, the organizational efficiency of borrowing companies, cost reduction etc.
The first company to obtain a loan within this program is “Odessahorelectrotrans” in Odessa. The loan amounting to EUR 8 mln will be disbursed against the guarantee of the city for the period of 12 months, including a two-year grace period and will be repaid by 20 equal installments each half of the year.
The Ministry of Finance reports that the implementation of the same projects in Chernigov, Chernivtsi, Sumy, Ivano-Frankivsk, Mykolaiv, L’viv, Kremenchug, Zhytomyr and Lutsk is also being considered. The relevant individual lending agreements can be signed in 2016 – 2017.
In addition, EBRD approved the project of modernization of the State Join Stock Company “Ukrhydroenergo”.
