From the 1st of January, 2015, Russia will impose sanctions against Ukraine, which include customs duties and product embargo, similar to the one acting towards the countries, which supported sanctions against RF, the RF Prime-Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed the corresponding resolution, RBC-Ukraine reports.

“Ukraine stated that since the beginning of the next year the implementation of economic part of EU association agreement will start, or continue. In these conditions we need to protect our market and our manufacturers and not to permit import in the guise of Ukrainian goods from other countries. Practically this means that since January 1, 2016 the import duties, envisaged by common customs tariff of the Eurasian Economic Union, will be applied to Ukraine”, said Medvedev.

In addition, from January 1, 2016, the responsive economic measures will be applied to Ukraine due to fact that it joined the EU and USA sanctions against Russia.

“In this August we have extended such measures over several countries – Iceland, Norway, Lichtenstein, Montenegro, Albania. We have imposed ban on import of agricultural products, raw material and provision. As for Ukraine, it was said that RF will not impose sanctions, if some consultations are not conducted, some agreements on economic part of the EU association agreement are reached. As Ukraine adopted the decision on implementation, no special agreements… were reached, since the 1st of January these measures will be extended also over Ukraine”, Medvedev explained.

It should be noted that the import ban of some goods has been imposed by the order of the President of Russia dd. 6th August, 2014 “On application of some special economic measures with the purpose of ensuring safety of Russian Federation”.

The product list includes meat and milk products, fish, vegetables, fruit and nuts.
