The launch of State Service on Food Safety and Consumer Protection (State Food Consumer Service), which was created by the Cabinet of Ministers in September 2014, is planned for February 10, 2016, said Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Alexei Pavlenko during the meeting with journalists, UNIAN reports.
“We plan a launch on February 10. I can announce in advance”, - said Pavlenko.
He said that the launch of central office and regional branches of State Food Consumer Service is planned on February 10. The start of operation of department in regions implies the simultaneous cessation of operation of reorganized and liquidated services, on which base State Food Consumer Service is created. The Minister assured that this will not lead to cessation of operation on profile of service.
“These are planned actions on transition. There won’t be situation when everything ceases”, said Pavlenko.
According to him, after the launch of territorial branches of State Food Consumer Service the work on forming its staff and setting its budget will continue. He noted that the new department will be financed at the expense of funds, allocated by state budget for services, which are being liquidated or reorganized.
Minister refused to comment on the dismissal of Serhei Hlushchenko from the post of Chairman of State Food Consumer Service, approved by the Cabinet of Ministers on January 13.
As UNIAN reported, Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted the decision on creation of State Food Consumer Service in September 2014 and assigned to create territorial bodies of the department in late October 2015. The central office of the institution fulfills certain functions, however the service has not started work at local level.
The department is created on the basis of State Agricultural Inspection, State Veterinary and Phytosanitary Service, State Service for Protection of Consumer Rights and State Sanitary Epidemiological Service, which are being liquidated or reorganized.
On January 13, 2016, the Cabinet of Ministers dismissed Serhei Hlushchenko (resignation) from the post of the Chairman of Food Consumer Service.
