The Minister specifies the blocking of important reforms as the main reason for his resignation.

The Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Aivaras Abromavicius decided to resign his office, RBC-Ukraine reports.

In his statement Abromavicius informed main reasons for his resignation.

“The reason is the sudden surge of blocking of any systemic and important reforms.

This is not just the absence of support or political will. These are active actions, aimed at paralyzing our reform activities: from unexpected call-off of security of the minister and his family to intrusion under high pressure of dubious persons to my team and to key posts of state enterprises”, - as it is said in the message.

In addition, Abromavicius informed that the people’s deputy from BPP Ihor Kononenko has tried to block his work lately.

“These individuals have names. And I still would like to call one name. This is Ihor Kononenko. As the representative of political force, which was recommended for post of minister, lately he has made so much to block my work and the work of my team. First deputies from BPP, controlled by Kononenko, prepared the resolution on my resignation and submitted it through the faction “Vidrodzhennya” in the Verkhovna Rada. For several months it collected 18 votes”, as it is said in the message.

It should be reminded that the faction “Block of Petro Poroshenko” (BPP) intends to raise the issue of resignation of the minister of internal affairs Arsen Avakov, Minister of Economic Development and Trade Aivaras Abromavicius and Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Culture Viacheslav Kyrylenko.
