Representatives of government will sign the updated memorandum on economic and financial policy of the International Monetary Fund as part of extended financial facility (EFF) program after the report of the Prime Minister in the parliament, scheduled for February 16, Interfax-Ukraine informs.

“The signing of the memorandum is postponed due to delaying on the part of the Prime-Minister”, - the agency’s interviewee stated.

According to him, this is because the Cabinet of Ministers expects guarantees that it will continue to work further and will not be dismissed. “It is evident that such guarantees can appear after February 16”, the source added.

As it was reported, after aggravation of political contradictions within Ukrainian authorities in the middle of previous decade the President, the Prime Minister, the Minister of Finance and the Governor of NBU affixed their signatures to the IMF memorandum.

Previously the IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde stated that IMF can cut off the support of Ukraine.

The Minister of Finance Natalia Yaresko expressed her opinion that the statement of IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde about possible termination of cooperation with Ukraine emphasizes that it is necessary to continue reforms in the country.

The four-year EFF program, opened by IMF in March 2015 for Ukraine, amounting to USD 17 bln, initially implied conduct of quarterly review of the program, allocation of four tranches to Kyiv in 2015, and other four in 2016.

However, as of today the country has received only the first tranche of funds, totaling USD 5 bln and the second – USD 1.7 bln.
