The European Commission positively assessed the steps, made by Ukraine, in terms of visa liberalization.
President of European Commission Jean Claude Juncker expects the positive report of the European Commission on the liberalization of visa-free regime with Ukraine in April. He said it at the end of the trilateral meeting of President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko with President of the European Council Donald Tusk and President of the European Commission Jean Claude Juncker.
“For the last days Ukraine passed a lot of laws in the sphere of fight with corruption, in particular, this is the passing of the Law On Electronic Declaration. We expect the positive marks of the European Commission on the liberalization of visa-free regime with Ukraine in April”, Juncker noted.
It should be reminded that in last December the European Commission acknowledged that, in general, Ukraine fulfilled the requirements of the Action Plan on the liberalization of visa regime. In the meantime, there are some drawbacks left, which need to be overcome within the nearest time, so visas could be cancelled in 2016. As a result, Ukraine and Georgia were technically separated during the process of deciding visa issues.
