Russian VTB top manager was Hontareva’s business partner, the journalists report.

Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine Valeria Hontareva was previously the business partner of the Russian official, but she ceased joint business after US and EU sanctions against RF, as it is said in “Our Money” material, quoting the documents of the Panamanian legal firm “Mossack Fonseca”.

It is reported that the financial group ICU, which was headed by Hontareva since 2007 before transfer to NBU, was created in 2006. Hontareva’s husband was the co-founder since the moment of founding. Currently the main legal entity of the group is registered as ICU Holdings Limited (British Virgin Islands).

Before autumn 2014, 22.74% shares of financial group ICU, which was headed by Valeria Hontareva since 2007 before her transfer to NBU, belonged to the wife of the first deputy president of Russian bank VTB Yurii Solovyov. In December 2013 Solovyov’s offshore Quillass Equities disbursed a loan, amounting to USD 10 million, to the offshore Keranto Holdings Ltd, the postal address of which coincides with ICU group central office address, the journalists report.

Journalists could not exactly determine the date, when Solovyov became not only the lender, but also the ICU co-owner. However, in January 2014 while disclosing the ownership structure of the bank “Avangard”, belonging to ICU group, it became known that the quarter of ICU Holdings Limited (22.74%) belongs to Cordova Management Ltd. The owner of Cordova Management – H. Uliutina (Russia, Moscow) – had the same share in ICU, as Hontareva.

It should be reminded that the information leaked from Mossack Fonseca database to mass media about the involvement of some world leaders and other persons within their circle to money laundering schemes and tax evasion.
