Ukrainians will have to pay for electricity, even if they do not use this electricity, Vesti reports.
The fee for connection of apartment or house to electrical network will be introduced with transition to market rates and adoption of the Law on Electricity Market of Ukraine. Ukrainians will have to pay for electricity, even if they do not use this electricity, energy expert Valentin Zemlyanskyi said.
He noted that it is difficult to say how rates will change, however, in his opinion, the fee for using electrical network will be definitely introduced. “Early or late the Law On Electricity Market of Ukraine, in which the same thing as with gas is envisaged, will be passed: you will have to pay the fee for connection to networks”, the expert said.
In the meantime, the rate was “floating”, depending on power. “We will pay the fee, based on the volume of power, which is connected to apartment or house – even if we do not use electrical energy”, Zemlyanskii noted, emphasizing that Ukraine plans to introduce the joint rate, so all consumers pay the single price.
“Currently we are jointly moving to the single tariff: we should have about UAH 1.78/kWt as a result. All social standards and all should pay the same with such tariff. So if we come to level of market tariffs, then we will not pay higher”, Zemlyanskii summarized.
