Meanwhile, the import of industrial products increased by 4%, Correspondent.net reports.
As per results of the first quarter of 2016 the export of food and beverages to EU increased by 31%, up to $569.6 million.
“The Ukrainian export of food and beverages to EU increased by 31%. Meanwhile, the import of industrial products increased by 4%”, - Director of EU Cooperation Administration, Deputy Head of International Trade and Economic Cooperation and European Integration Department of the Ministry of Economy Alexei Rozhkov.
According to him, the information is preliminary and can be corrected by data from customs authorities.
Rozhkov added that since the beginning of the year Ukraine has used the total number of tariff quotas on honey, barley, processed tomatoes, grape and apple juice, sugar, corn, flour, oatmeal. The main quota has also been used for the first and second sub-periods for chicken and the additional quota is successfully used.
“EU has used 100% quotas for supplies of poultry, uses quotas on sugar, and has started to use quotas on pork”, Rozhkov added.
It should be noted that under Association Agreement Ukraine can supply 36 commodity items to EU exempt of duties as per the approved volumes of tariff quotas.
Previously, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy claimed about the growth in demand to EU for Ukrainian agricultural products. For the first three months Ukrainian exporters delivered commodities to EU for USD 1.2 billion, as it is noted by the Ministry.
