On April 28, 2016, the Ministry of Informational Policy of Ukraine presented the report on the work performed by the ministry for the first quarter of 2016 (January-March).

The Deputy Minister of the Informational Policy of Ukraine Artem Bidenko said: “At the beginning of this year we presented the plan of activities of the Ministry for 2016 to the society. In particular, according to the plan, we realize the program “Open Government” and are absolutely transparent in our activities – this report corroborates it.” The Deputy told about two MIP reforms: governmental communications and international broadcasting of Ukraine. “For today the large project is the reforming of governmental communications. I am referring to creating the office of governmental communications, realizing the so-called una voce policy, organizing trainings for the staff, dealing with communications”.

Deputy Minister Tatiana Popova in her turn told about the legislative reform in media sphere and the renewal of the Ukrainian language in ATO zone.

“We have started the legislative reform in media sphere and the harmonization of legislation with EU laws. Jointly with OSCE and the Council of Europe we are discussing the plan of actions. In this regard we have also engaged the Transparency International representatives from the Baltic countries”.

The deputy told that in regard to the renewal of language, for the first quarter of 2016 the MIP installed 12 transmitters in ATO zone, out of which 1 is digital, transmitting 5 channels simultaneously to Donetsk: “We continue publishing the Special Issue for Donbass citizens” and this month we increased circulation up to 30,000 copies”. Tatiana Popova also shared with plans and noted that the next step will be the planned installation of TV towers in ATO zone.

In addition, in ATO zone at the beginning of 2016 the Monitoring Mission of the Ministry of Informational Policy of Ukraine visited and analyzed the state of Ukrainian broadcasting in cities in the East: Soledar, Maryinka, Karachun, Krasnohorovka, Avdeevka, Novoaidarskoe, Troitsk, Elizavetovka, Novhorodskoe, Rubezhnoe, Uhledar, Popasnaia, Mariupol, Toretskoe, Selidovo, Chasov Yar, Kramatorsk and Ukrainsk.

“On the Crimea we will continue the communication campaign “The Crimea is Ukraine”, initiated last year. It is, first of all, aimed at the consolidation of the Ukrainian public opinion on the Crimea as well as for Ukrainians, living on the peninsula. Within the campaign we also made a documentary feature film ”Crimea. Resistance”, the target audience of which is the foreign viewer. We plan to present it soon”, - First Deputy Minister Emine Japarovu later commented.
