Prime-Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groisman hopes that next week the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine will pass the draft law on simplification of the entry of qualitative pharmaceuticals from abroad to Ukraine, Prime Minister said during the participation in events on the occasion of celebrating the Day of Europe in Vynnytsia on Saturday.
“Yesterday, during the question time, I addressed to parliamentarian deputies and there were many associates on this matter, to quickly implement these decisions next week. The President has the absolute determination to sign this Law. This will mean that we demonopolize the market, and the prices for pharmaceuticals will start decreasing”, - he said.
Volodymyr Groisman reminded that on the eve the Government took the decision on simplification of the entry of pharmaceuticals to Ukrainian market, which are registered and sold on US, Canadian, EU, Swiss, Japanese and Australian markets.
“We took the decision that those pharmaceuticals, which are registered and used there, do not need to be checked once more in Ukraine. For what? In order to give somebody a chance to make money. No. We will end it at once”, - Volodymyr Groisman emphasized. Currently the governmental decision needs to be ruled legislatively.
“Currently we need to put things right with pharmaceuticals in Ukraine. The pharmaceuticals are expensive in Ukraine not because they cost expensive, but because there are 5-6 firms on the flows, which are absolute monopolists on the borders of the import of pharmaceuticals to Ukraine”, - Prime-Minister reported.
According to him, the monopolists of pharmaceuticals import lobbied the formation of legislation, restricting the opportunities of pharmaceuticals import to Ukraine. Today, the registration of qualitative medications in Ukraine can continue for years. “That’s why we have a limited quantity of medications, and have high value”, Volodymyr Groisman noted.
The Government will also continue to purchase pharmaceuticals through special international organizations, which allow saving 10-90% costs and will promote cost reduction for pharmaceuticals.
