The Governor of the National Bank considers that Russian banks can sell their Ukrainian subsidiaries, Correspondent.net reports.
The Russian banks have started to gradually cease their business in Ukraine, NBU Governor Valeria Hontareva said to Ukrainian Truth.
“After Russian banks underwent stress testing, they had very big holes in the capital. And they have already fully increased capital, which makes us happy. Moreover, if you have noticed, the Russian banks do not develop their business, but quietly close it. And if they decide to sell their subsidiary banks, let them sell them”, Hontareva said.
Meanwhile, she informed that in order to sell subsidiary banks in Ukraine their Russian owners should apply to NBU for approval of the sale and purchase deals, emphasizing that none of Russian bankers has not applied to them yet.
“The only deal, which we approved, but we do not refer this bank to as the Russian bank (at least, it is not the Russian bank with state capital), that’s why we do not have any concerns –is the purchase of Ukrsotsbank by Alfa Bank. We are not against this deal”, - NBU Governor noted.
