The Ministry of Healthcare of Ukraine reports, according to the Governmental portal.

On July 29 there was the meeting of Deputy Minister of Healthcare of Ukraine Roman Ilyk with representatives of the Embassy of Japan in Ukraine and JICS on realization of the grant for purchasing special equipment for Ukrainian healthcare facilities at the expense of Japanese government.

The project is carried out for the purpose of fulfilment of agreements between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of Japan and has the purpose of purchasing and supplying special medical equipment to the range of healthcare facilities of Kyiv and regions (Kharkov, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhya) for the total amount of USD 5 mln, MHU’s site reports.

During the meeting the parties discussed the plan of implementation of JICS mission in healthcare facilities with the purpose of examination of facilities for future arrangement of equipment, the list of medical equipment, which is planned to be purchased within the grant, the list of hospitals, which can obtain it, the specifics of the import of medical commodities to Ukraine and their delivery to healthcare facilities, conducting trainings among the medical staff on the use of obtained equipment etc.

The Deputy Minister emphasized that the important condition for procurement is not only the question of the price of equipment and its installation in hospitals, but also the questions of quality and possibility of its further service maintenance. “The use of imported medical equipment in Ukraine should necessarily have technical capabilities for operation for many years”, he noted.

JICS mission will be in Ukraine till August 08. During this time jointly with the representatives of the Ministry of Healthcare of Ukraine the Japanese party intends to visit healthcare facilities and assess technical capabilities for equipment installation, to finalize the list of institutions and necessary medical equipment, which needs to be purchased, to provide details of the conditions for conducting procurements.

The relevant protocol on the approval of conditions and procedures of procurement of special medical equipment between the Ministry of Healthcare of Ukraine and the Embassy of Japan will be signed as per results of the mission’s work.
