During the official visit to Indonesia President Petro Poroshenko had a meeting with representatives of Indonesian business. The President noted that Indonesia is the important trading partner of Ukraine in South East Asia. Petro Poroshenko remarked on the significant growth of goods turnover between countries, adding that most goods (about 80%) are agricultural goods, the press-office of the Official Website of the President of Ukraine reports.
“I am glad to see such a large number of representatives of Ukrainian and Indonesian business on the forum. This demonstrates how significant the potential is in cooperation between our countries”, Petro Poroshenko emphasized.
The President remarked on the fruitfulness of negotiations with Indonesian government, reminding that in Djakarta the documents were signed, in particular, on cooperation in military defense sector, in agricultural sphere and visa liberalization. According to the President, the productive negotiations were held on the possibility of production of energy equipment. The significant potential of cooperation is also in pharmaceutical sector, the President added.
“We should use our unique opportunities for expansion of cooperation as soon as possible”, Petro Poroshenko noted.
The President informed about the process of reforming in Ukraine, in particular in the fight with corruption, in building of new judicial system, in deregulation and decentralization.
Separately the President focused attention on opportunities, which are opened due to the EU-Ukraine Agreement on Free Trade Area. “Ukraine should become the platform for access to the European market for Indonesia. In the meantime, we consider Indonesia as the platform to the Big Asian market”, the President said.
Taking in account the situation in the world, the President said that military defense sector is the promising sphere of cooperation.
Petro Poroshenko reminded that the President of Ukraine has not visited Indonesia about 20 years.
“That’s why after this visit and meetings our countries and citizens will become closer. Our “doors” and hearts are opened for you. We are looking forward to meeting with you”, - the President summarized.
