The embezzlement of public funds was found in the Chernihiv region.

The Prosecutor’s Office of the Chernihiv region initiated criminal proceeding over the abuse of office by the officials while using the funds of the public budget, allocated for the “Wall” project.

As it is noted, one of state companies concluded agreements with contractors of works (private companies), providing in violation of legislation the obligation to make advance payment and the necessity to buy materials at the customer’s expense.

“Meanwhile, the performance of technical arrangement works of the state border has not been confirmed, the information on the volumes of completed works and their value between the client and contractor has not been signed. As a result, under the auspices of executives of state enterprise in violation of legislative requirements of the private structure UAH 1.8 million of budgetary funds were received without actual performance of works”, according to the message.

The executives may face from 5 to 8 years with deprivation of the right to occupy certain positions or engage in certain activities for a period of 3 years.

It should be reminded that the “Wall” project on the border with Russia was proposed by Former Prime Minister Arsenii Yatseniuk in 2014, in July of the same year the Cabinet of Ministers approved the project.

In 2016 UAH 200 mln, out of which UAH 60 mln have already been received, were provided for implementation of the “Wall” project. In addition, in 2015 UAH 400 million, which were fully spent, were allocated for the construction of the “Wall”.
