Kantar Worldpanel ComTech experts studied US smartwatch market and fitness trackers as well as four European countries, including the United Kingdom, Germany, France and Italy – iXBT reports.
The research results showed that as of late July 15.6% of Americans have smartwatch. In the meantime, the Europeans treat this category of electronic goods much calmer. Among the surveyed citizens of European countries, the owners of gadgets were 8.1% people in total.
In terms of smartwatch, the share of owners among surveyed Americans and Europeans makes up 4.7% and 3.2% respectively.
From early May to late July 2016, smartwatch made up 47% of sales in the category of wearable electronics. The market leader is Apple with market share of 33.5% for these three months. In Europe the same trend is being observed, smartwatch makes up 38.6%, while 31.8% of the market belongs to Apple Watch.
For the same period, 20% of US smartwatch customers purchased them to replace classic watch, and there were 30% of such users among Europeans.
