The National Bank completed the liquidation of Basis bank, Ukrainian News reports.
As reported, the procedure of liquidation was completed in August 28.
The liquidator of the bank undertakes measures on exclusion of the bank from the Unified State Register of Legal Entities and Individual Entrepreneurs within the procedures, stipulated by the Law of Ukraine On State Registration of Legal Entities and Individual Entrepreneurs.
On April 20, 2012, NBU reportedly imposed temporary administration in Basis bank for 6 months (from April 23 to October 23, 2012).
The National Bank explains this step as follows: ”the analysis of bank performance and results of inspection audit demonstrates the worsening of its financial standing, decreasing liquidity rate and potential for loss of solvency”.
Later, in August 23, 2012, the National Bank took decision on revocation of the banking license of Basis JSCB and appointment of the liquidator.
It should be reminded that this Kharkiv bank ranked 95th in terms of volume of assets in the banking sphere of Ukraine.
As of the end of II quarter of 2012, more than 73% of its shares belonged to Investor-Fund LLC, other 23.6% - Investor OJSC. Informally, the financial institution was associated with the incumbent Minister of Internal Affairs and Ex-Governor of Kharkiv Region Arsen Avakov and his Investor Holding.
Meanwhile, his wife – Inna Avakova – was officially the chairwoman of the management board of Basis and indirectly owned more than 23.6% of bank shares.
