The National Bank of Ukraine may lift restrictions from market after obtaining the fourth tranche of the International Monetary Fund at the beginning of the next year, Deputy Governor of the National Bank Oleg Churii said to Ukrinform.
“The nationalization of PrivatBank, the stable situation on the market, currency inflow, adoption of the budget – this all will contribute to obtaining the fourth tranche from IMF. This will become the positive signal for lifting currency restrictions”, Churii said.
Meanwhile, the National Bank expects for IMF mission and program revision in the beginning of the next year.
“This year, the program revision will not happen for sure. Next week, it’s holidays on Europe and US. I think we will get back to this issue at the beginning of the next year”, the regulator’s deputy head added.
As regards to the exact amount of tranche, if its amount will be USD 1.3 billion as expected, Churii noted that this is the question to the lender, International Monetary Fund. “It decides what amount of tranche it is ready to allocate to our country”, he specified.
As reported, in 2016, after one-year interval, the cooperation between Ukraine and the International Monetary Fund continued.
After formation of a new government and fulfilment of conditions for increasing rates for household and utility services in September, Kyiv obtained the third IMF tranche – USD 1 million.
