Raising the minimum wage in Ukraine up to UAH 3,200 will not lead to price surge and mass dismissals, Minister of Social Policy Andrei Reva said, according to Finance.UA.
He noted that such forecasts do not have any grounds and are incompetent and unprofessional.
“When the estimates are made in the sphere of employment, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade do nothing without the Ministry of Social Policy, which, in its turn, cooperates with the leading scientists”, Reva said.
The official noted that the Ministry of Social Policy conducted all necessary researches and estimates, which allow claiming that there won’t be any negative consequences from the minimum wage.
“If the economic growth is planned at 3%, then about what job cuts can we speak? If the revenues of the State Budget in January 2017 increased by 40% versus January 2016, the Pension Fund received by UAH 1.2 bln more, this cannot possibly happen due to job cuts”, Minister of Social Policy assured.
As reported, previously NBU Governor Valeria Gontareva said that Ukrainian mass media incorrectly interpreted information of the regulator’s inflation report on influence of raising the minimum wage on labor market. That is why the claims that this initiative will lead to reduction of more than 600 ths Ukrainians, are not completely accurate.
