As of February 1, the international reserves of Ukraine amounted to USD 15.445 bln, according to the preliminary data of the National Bank, Finance.ua reports.
«Due to temporary seasonal factors on the interbank currency market as well as the necessity of making payments of the state debt, the international reserves decreased by 0.6% for a month», according to the message.
As reported, in January, the dynamics of international reserves was formed by two sources of factors.
Firstly, the volume of international reserves was changed due to NBU interventions on the interbank currency market.
Secondly, USD 138 mln were allocated from reserves for making government’s payment for servicing and repayment of state and state-guaranteed debt in the foreign currency. Out of them, USD 42.3 mln were allocated for servicing domestic government loan securities.
«As per results of the month, the volume of international reserves of Ukraine covers 3.4 months of the future import and is sufficient for fulfilling obligations and current transactions of the government and the National Bank», - the regulator said.
It should be reminded that for the last year, international reserves increased by 2.2 billion dollars or by 17%, and as of January 1, 2017, amounted to USD 15.539 million.
