According to preliminary estimates, the assets of the National Bank of Ukraine increased from UAH 849.2 bln in 2015 to UAH 940.6 bln in 2016, Finance.ua reports.
As reported, the increase of international reserves of Ukraine, which increased by 2.2 billion dollars in 2016, or by 17%, and reached USD 15.5 billion at the year-end, affected the growth of assets.
In its turn, NBU assets in UAH in the bank balance of the reporting period decreased by UAH 38.4 billion, or by 8%, and amounted to UAH 439 billion. The amount of securities in NBU portfolio decreased by UAH 10.1 billion for 2016. In addition, the amount of arrears of banks to the Central Bank significantly decreased. Last year, the borrowers repaid UAH 31.7 billion of the refinancing loan to the National Bank.
Meanwhile, the amount of liabilities of the National Bank increased by UAH 19.6 billion to UAH 746 billion. In particular, the amount of deposit certificates, issued by the National Bank decreased by UAH 21.7 billion from the beginning of the year and made up UAH 68.2 billion as of late 2016. The authorized capital of the National Bank increased up to UAH 194.6 billion for 2016 or by UAH 71.7 billion, mainly out of profits.
It should be reminded that the refinancing loan arrears of the banks to NBU decreased by 55% in 2016.
