The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine commented on the simultaneous decrease of deposit rates by three state bank, FinClub reported in the press office of the committee.
«The antimonopoly committee considers the question of functioning of the banking on the competitive basis within the context of increase of the number of state-owned banks and the growth of their share in some segments of the banking market», - the press office of the committee reported.
The AMCU states that on February 24, it submitted requests for information to three professional unions of the participants of the banking market and banks.
«The obtained information was analyzed in terms of necessity of undertaking measures for ensuring state protection of competition, taking into account the legislative requirements», AMCU commented.
As reported, on February 20, three state banks – PrivatBank, Oshchadbank and Ukrgasbank – simultaneously decreased deposit rates.
Two weeks before, Chairman of PrivatBank Alexander Shlapak said that state banks plan to “agree on interest rate policy and possible split of the market”.
