From 15 March 2017, Sberbank limited the withdrawal of cash funds from current accounts of individuals through bank cash register to UAH 30,000 and its equivalent in other currencies for 24 hours, Economic Truth reports.

According to the information, posted on the site of the Ukrainian branch of Russian bank:

“Due to illegal actions of third parties on blocking the main office of Sberbank PJSC, damaging bank ATMs, resulting in the disruption of encashment schedules of branches/ATMs of the affiliated network of the bank, we would like to inform about the temporary limitation of withdrawal of funds from current accounts of individuals through bank cash register to UAH 30,000 and its equivalent in other currencies for 24 hours - from 15 March 2017”.

The deposit certificates are issued without limitations through bank cash registers.

The time deposits of individuals are given without application of any commission for cash withdrawal, but the amount of cash withdrawal is equal to the set temporary limit for withdrawal of funds from current accounts.

As reported, on March 10, during the government session, Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov said that Sberbank acknowledges the documents of the so-called “DNR” and “LNR” and, consequently, “finances combatants; it makes profit in Ukraine and invests it in separatist republics”.

In response to it, Prime Minister Volodymyr Groisman informed that the Cabinet of Ministers and the National Bank of Ukraine considers the question of imposition of sanctions against “the affiliate” of Sberbank of Russia.

On the same day, the affiliated structure of Russia’s Sberbank in Ukraine – Sberbank PJSC – claimed that it is not going to service clients with “the documents”, issued by occupants in some districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

On March 12, in different regions of Ukraine, the people, identifying themselves as patriots, filled ATMs of Sberbank with the polyurethane foam, and on March 14, in Kyiv they immured one of the branches of this bank.

On Tuesday, the personnel of Sberbank encouraged President Petro Poroshenko “on behalf of more than 2,000 Ukrainian citizens, working in Sberbank PJSC”, interfere and take measures “on restoration of constitutional rights of clients and employees, for proper work of one of the top commercial banks of Ukraine”.

The National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine decided to discuss the situation with Sberbank on March 15.
