At Thursday session, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the Tourism and Resort Development Strategy until 2026, the press office of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade reports.

“According to UN World Tourism Organization, the contribution of tourism in global GDP is 10%, and the total number of jobs, directly or indirectly related to the tourism sphere”, MEDT reports, according to Finance.UA materials.

As reported, the strategy determines the approach of the state tourism policy considering the following aspects: security of tourists, regulatory support, development of tourist infrastructure, development of human resources, marketing policy of tourism and resort development.

The strategy stipulates that by 2026, in Ukraine the number of foreign tourists will increase 2.5 times; the number of domestic tourists will increase 5 times; the number of jobs in tourism will increase five times, the replenishment of all level budgets from tourist activities will increase 10 times.

In addition, MEDT hopes that the strategy will help increasing the number of tourist attractions five times.

The Ministry of Economy also expects that tourists will spend up to 80 billion hryvnia while travelling in Ukraine.

“The development of the tourist strategy is one of the conditions, which we should fulfill as part of the implementation of EU Association Agreement. We already work on its implementation: we create the plan of measures, aimed at implementation of the strategy, we carry on the active dialogue with Ukrainian business representatives, develop the legislative base”, Deputy Minister of Economic Development Michael Titarchuk noted.
